Hvem installerer et toilet?

So, who actually installs a toilet? That’s a great question! I mean, I’ve always wondered that myself, especially after that whole bathroom reno fiasco I went through last year. Let me tell you, it was a nightmare. Anyway, most of the time, you don’t need a licensed plumber, you know? I almost tackled it myself, to save some money, of course. My brother-in-law, bless his heart, he’s a bit of a handyman – said he could help. But then we realised we’d be messing with the drain placement, and uh oh… that’s when we realised that maybe, just maybe, a professional was in order. I mean, who wants a toilet that doesn’t flush properly, right? A total disaster.

The thing is, if you’re just swapping out an old toilet for a new one and nothing else is changing, it’s probably a DIY-able project. Unless, you’re like me, and lack basic plumbing skills… But seriously, if you’re not messing with the pipes or the shut-off valve, you should probably be alright. But, and this is a big but, you always gotta check those local codes. Every town seems to have its own weird rules! I nearly forgot to get the right permits last time, talk about a stressful phone call. My neighbour, Steve, actually did his own – said it was surprisingly easy, but he’s a bit of a whiz with these kinds of things. I’m more of a “call the expert” kind of gal, especially when it comes to anything potentially involving sewage. You know?

So yeah, to summarise: It’s usually fine to do it yourself, but if you’re even slightly unsure, or if anything looks complicated, call a plumber. Save yourself the headache, I say. Trust me on this one.
