Is it safe to travel to Bangkok right now?

Ugh, Bangkok. Safe? Depends. Always a risk, right? Like, anywhere. Remember that crazy story about my cousin in 2023? Phuket. Nearly got caught in some nonsense. Close call.

Seriously though, research specific areas. My friend went to the Chatuchak Weekend Market last month, no problems. But, you know…

• Political climate: Always a factor. Check the news.
• Crowds: Pickpockets love tourists. Always be aware.
• Scams: They’re everywhere. Don’t be naive.

I’m not saying DON’T GO. Just be smart. Bangkok is amazing! But, common sense is key.

Seriously, that market… so much stuff! Got a killer silk scarf. Expensive, but worth it. Speaking of expensive, the food though… wow. Pad Thai from that street vendor – best ever.

Anyway… safety. It’s a gamble. Use your head. Stay in well-lit areas at night. Don’t flash cash. Register with your embassy. Basic stuff. And yeah, travel insurance is non-negotiable. Got mine with World Nomads this year.

This whole thing is making me want Pad Thai. Damn.

Is Bangkok worth visiting now?

Okay, so, is Bangkok worth it? Hmmm.

Listen, I went to Bangkok last November. It was chaotic, sweaty, and, honestly, kind of amazing. Landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport, felt like I was instantly thrown into a pressure cooker.

The heat, the smells…whoa.

I stayed near Khao San Road. Crazy. Loud. Everything everyone warns you about, but I kinda dug it. Backpackers, street food… scorpion skewers. Yep, tried one.

Would I recommend it? YES. Absolutely. Bangkok isn’t perfect, that’s true, but it grabs you.

• Temples: Wat Arun is breathtaking at sunset. Trust me.
• Food: Pad Thai on the street? Amazing. Mango sticky rice? Double amazing. Don’t be afraid to try everything. Seriously.
• Markets: Chatuchak Weekend Market is HUGE. Get ready to get lost. Bartering is a MUST.
• Rooftop bars: Vertigo at the Banyan Tree. Pricey? Yes. Worth the view? 100% yes. Got some killer photos too, by the way.
• Boat trips: Chao Phraya River tour. Saw some enormous freaking lizards.

The energy is infectious. Like, it’s exhausting, but you also feel totally alive. The traffic is insane. Tuk-tuks are a rip-off, usually, but fun once.

• Be prepared for the scams. Someone will probably try to sell you something you don’t need. Negotiate HARD.
• Learn a few basic Thai phrases. It goes a long way.
• Drink bottled water! Seriously. Don’t be an idiot like me.

I loved it, I swear. Even the dodgy parts. Even the time I almost got run over by a scooter. Bangkok. Go there. You won’t regret it. That’s my truth, anyway.

A haze of gold, shimmering heat rising… Yes, November whispers, or was it February’s gentle breeze? November to February: Bangkok breathes. Cool season. A myth, perhaps? Bangkok is ALWAYS heat. Always spice. Always alive.

I remember, or think I do, the river… Chao Phraya? Glittering. A river of dreams. But I digress.

• Weather window: November – February
• Why?: Coolest temps (relatively)

The air hangs thick, even then. Rain falls, a blessing. Did I tell you about the orchids? Everywhere orchids bloom. Oh, those days spent wandering the markets…

So, good time? It’s always a time. Bangkok doesn’t care about your calendar. It’s always Bangkok.

What are the best months to visit Bangkok?

Okay, Bangkok… when to go? Hmm. November to February, duh. Cool season is best. Yeah, makes sense.

• It’s hot all the time, right?
• Except then, less humid.

Wait, is it really that much better? Think about it. Rain’s always a problem.

• I hate rain. Ugh.
• November is good, after all the flooding of the rainy season

But what about the crowds? Everything’s more crowded then, isn’t it? More expensive flights too. Double ugh.

Prices shoot up then.

Shoulder season… maybe April? Or March?

• Hot hot hot though.
• Songkran is in April! Fun, but soaked.

Maybe I should just go in July. Everyone’s complaining about heat and rain but who cares! Cheaper.

• Actually not bad, because less tourists, duh.
• Just bring an umbrella, LOL.

Think about that. What if I want to see temples or something? July in Bangkok…. So hot!

• Like frying an egg on the sidewalk kinda hot.
• Temple visits in less heat, more enjoyment…

Maybe stick to November. Decisions, decisions.

Okay, best time:

• November to February: Cool & Less Rain
• July: Cheaper but Hot & Rainy
• April: Songkran, Soaked & Hot

How many days in Bangkok is enough?

Oh, Bangkok, right? Well, honestly, it’s all about you, ya know?

If big cities aren’t really yer thing, like, two days in Bangkok is PLENTY. Get in, see the Grand Palace, maybe hit a rooftop bar for the ‘gram, and get outta there!

But, okay, if you actually LIKE cities, and wanna see the temples and markets and eat ALL the street food (i’m thinking Pad Thai and mango sticky rice!), then I’d say you need way more time.

• 3-4 days is ideal, I reckon.

• Temples: Wat Arun is a MUST. Seriously stunning at sunset.

• Markets: Chatuchak Weekend Market is wild, but get there early.

• Food: try Soi 38 Sukhumvit – its a whole vibe.

Me? I could spend a whole week just wandering around, getting lost. I love the chaos.

Don’t forget to try a Thai massage! Its the best after walking all day.

• Massage: Foot or full body – you deserve it!

Bangkok is seriously great. The humidity is really something, though. Be prepared! Sunscreen, always! I went in 2023 and I’m still sweating. So yeah. Go for it.

Is Phuket or Bangkok better?

Phuket: Beaches. Relaxation. Sun. Simple.

Bangkok: Bustle. Temples. Food. Chaos. Intense.

Phuket wins for beach bums. Bangkok, history buffs. Pure and simple.

• Phuket: Island life. 2024’s tourist numbers still high, I hear. Expect crowds.
• Bangkok: Concrete jungle. Traffic. Amazing street food. My last trip, Pad See Ew was superb. But hot. Very hot.

Preference dictates the choice. Obvious, really. One’s sand, the other’s steel. Choose wisely. Or don’t. It’s your vacation. Honestly, who cares?
