Is it OK to reach 1 hour before flight?

Aim to arrive at the airport at least one hour before a domestic flight. While boarding usually closes 30 minutes before departure, arriving earlier allows ample time for security lines and potential delays. For international flights, aim for 2-3 hours prior to departure.

Arrive 1 Hour Before Flight: Too Early?

Okay, so here’s the thing about getting to the airport… it’s kinda stressful, right?

For domestic flights, airlines usually want you at the gate like, 30 minutes before take-off. International? Bump that up to between 45 and 60 minutes, roughly.

But getting there ONE HOUR before? Is that too early? Honestly, depends on me.

See, last July I flew from JFK to Cancun. Thought an hour was PLENTY. Wrong. Security was a NIGHTMARE. Lines snaked everywhere. I was sweating bullets, practically sprinting to the gate.

Seriously almost miss my flight – learned my lesson! Now? I aim for two hours, international. Peace of mind is priceless. And airport margaritas, obvs. Domestically? Still an hour at least. Trust me.
