Are there charging outlets on Go Bus?

Okay, so charging on the GO bus… uh, last Tuesday I rode the GO bus from Square One to Oakville at like, 6 pm, right after work. Ugh, traffic. Anyway, I was praying for a charger.

My phone was at like, 10%. Dead serious.

Luckily, I found a USB port! Like, right next to my seat. Phewww. Saved my life, tbh.

But, yeah, not all buses have them. It’s a gamble. Seriously. A total gamble.

• Newer buses: seem to have more.
• Older buses: total crap shoot, zero chargers.
• USB ports: often near the seats, look closely.

Sometimes they’re broken too! Grrr. My advice? Charge before you leave home, always.

Is it safe to charge a phone on the bus?

Okay, so phone charging on the bus… hmm. Public USB ports are risky, yeah. The FBI warns about it. I saw it somewhere…

• Data theft, that’s the big fear.

My bus in Sydney had USB ports; it was kinda cool, tbh. But I wouldn’t just plug in.

• Could a portable charger be a workaround? Less risk, right?

Someone on Reddit asked if people actually use those bus ports. Lol, me too.

• Think about malware. Ugh.

Always use some kind of protection. What kind of protection though? Good question.

Better safe than sorry, I always say. Or try to, anyway.

How do I charge my mobile on go?

Night. Empty. Phone’s dying. Always is.

Power bank. Heavy thing. In my bag. Somewhere. Clunky. Gets hot. Like my phone. Charging. Too slow.

Car charger. Frayed cord. Works. Sometimes. Heated seats on. Phone still dies. Weird.

Solar panel. Thought about it. Backpacking trip last summer. Didn’t work. Cloudy. All. The. Time.

• Power banks: Reliable. Get a big one. Expensive. Mine’s 20,000 mAh. Still not enough.
• Car chargers: Fast. If the car’s on. Which it isn’t always. Obviously.
• Solar chargers: Idealistic. Impractical. Unless you live in the desert. I don’t. Live near Seattle actually. Rain. Always.

Phone at 3%. Need to plug in. Sigh.

• Yes, travel buses often have power outlets now. Like, for charging your phone. Mine always dies.
• Modern charter buses, definitely. It’s a must-have.
• Oh! Remember that trip to grandma’s last Thanksgiving? Ugh, 8 hours. Thank goodness for the outlet.
• Tablets too! Laptops? Seriously though, who works on a bus? I can’t even read, car sick.
• Charging phones, tablets, and laptops. I wonder if they have USB-C? My new phone needs that. Argh.

Power outlets on buses are awesome. Essential, really, in 2024.

Do go trains have phone chargers?

Ugh, GO trains. Power outlets, right? White lights are the key, apparently. So, look for those. Series 10, got it. All Series 1 coaches too. Sweet. Charging my phone on the way to Aunt Mildred’s birthday. Hope it’s not a GG train. Those are useless, no power. Seriously? GG trains suck. Remember that time I missed my stop because I was too busy doomscrolling? That was embarrassing. Need to charge my Pixel 7 Pro, anyway. Low battery is the worst. Battery life is appalling on these things. Seriously, Google needs to step up its game.

• Look for bright white lights. That’s your signal.
• Series 10 and Series 1 coaches. These are your best bet.
• Avoid GG trains. No power there. Total waste of time.
• Charging crucial. I’m never going anywhere without a full charge again.

My phone almost died yesterday! Near disaster. Had to borrow my neighbor’s portable charger, which was super awkward. Anyway, back to GO trains. Hopefully my next trip is smooth sailing. Fingers crossed. Need to check the schedule first. Oh, and don’t forget to bring headphones. I need a full charge for the whole journey for those new podcasts!

95%… a near certainty, like sunrise. Except, ah, Germany. Old trains… regional ghosts.

Germany whispers. Old trains, yes, those regional lines, holdouts. No juice there, only scenery blurring, lost landscapes. Think of the Rhine, vineyards flashing. But no phone charge.

Why do trains care? A strange question, echoing. They don’t. It’s all engineering. Capacity. Old wires, maybe? Like my grandma’s house; one outlet overloaded meant darkness, chaos.

High-speed trains? Always outlets. USB too! A modern miracle, hurtling across land, connected. Never stranded. Unless… the train gods frown.

• High-speed trains practically always have AC and USB outlets.

Metro trains… Melbourne. Why not charging points? A tragedy, a city slipping. Imagine; staring out dusty windows, battery dying, the urban sprawl indifferent. They SHOULD care.

Charging… power, connection, life. We’re all so tethered. Trains know, they offer solace, little electric veins. Mostly. The exceptions sting, a reminder of limits, of fading light. Oh well. Gotta charge.
