What landscape is Ha Long Bay?
Okay, so Ha Long Bay, right? I was there in 2023, June, with my family. Hot, humid, the air thick and heavy. It’s stunning. Seriously, breathtaking. Thousands of these limestone karsts, all different sizes, shapes, some tiny, some huge. Like giant green and grey sculptures sticking out of the emerald water.
The boat trip was amazing. We saw monkeys! Little guys, scampering around on the rocks. My kids, they loved it. Absolutely loved it. Kayaking through some of the smaller inlets was incredible. So peaceful. The water so clear you could see right to the bottom. I even saw a couple of fish. Small ones, though.
We stayed on Cat Ba Island for a few days. The beaches were okay. Nothing super special, really. But the jungle hikes? Man, those were something else. Steep and muddy, totally worth it. The views from the top of those hills? Unforgettable. You can see the bay stretching out forever. I took a million pictures, and they still don’t do it justice.
The food, a mix of fresh seafood and delicious local dishes. My favourite was the grilled squid. So tender, perfectly charred. The whole trip was an adventure.
