Seriously, you need way more time. Like, a lot more. Think at least two hours, maybe even more if you are changing terminals. Two terminals in Helsinki? That’s a trek. Helsinki-Vantaa is huge.

• Security lines are brutal. Always.
• Gate-to-gate travel time is significant. Especially with luggage.

I mean, you’re basically playing with fire. It’s a gamble and you’ll probably lose. My friend once missed her flight, 45-minute layover, same airport. She was stressed the whole week after. Don’t be like her. It’s not worth the stress. Just book a longer layover, it’s cheaper than the emotional damage of missing your flight, and the hassle of rebooking.

• Baggage claim nightmares: Imagine the scene: you’re sprinting with a suitcase bigger than a small car, while simultaneously juggling a half-eaten pretzel.
• Delayed flights: Even a minor delay turns your layover into a full-blown panic attack.

And if you’re running late, which, like, I always am, they have those moving walkways, they are, like, the best.

• Customer service: if you’re really lost, you can always ask someone for help, they have folks that can help.

• Gate numbers: The gate numbers are very clear. Trust me! I’ve seen it.

• Time of day: The airport is smaller during the day, so less crowded.

• Shopping: If you have time you can shop, like me, after I get past security, then I shop for, like, 2 hours…maybe more.

• Rest area: Need a nap? There’s a place to rest, like a lounge, but a cheap one.
