• Speed: Air travel wins. No contest. My last flight from NYC to LA? Five hours. Train? Days. Literally.
• Comfort: Trains. Stretch. Walk. Work. Sleep. My cramped apartment feels bigger than a plane seat.
• Cost: Variable. My recent Amtrak to Chicago cost more than a budget flight. Sometimes, trains are cheaper. Check Google Flights, Kayak, Amtrak.com.
• Experience: Trains offer a unique perspective. Saw the countryside. Chatted with a farmer from Nebraska. Learned he grows corn. Lots of corn. Flying? Bland. Except the turbulence over Denver. That was exciting. Unintentionally.
• Carbon Footprint: Trains win this one, hands down. Important. My reusable water bottle won’t save the planet alone.
• Luggage: Trains. No baggage fees. Brought my bike. My cello. Try that on Spirit. Actually, don’t.
• Productivity: Finished three proposals on the train. On the plane? Watched Spiderman. Twice.

Do you prefer travel by plane or train?

Planes? Nah, trains all the way for me. Seriously, flying’s a total hassle. Security lines are the worst, you’re crammed in like sardines, and the whole thing is just stressful. Trains, on the other hand? Way more relaxing, you know? I can actually stretch my legs, get some work done, maybe even catch up on some good podcasts. Plus, the views are often way better than looking at clouds. Plus, it’s just more convenient for lots of trips I take, like going to visit my Aunt Millie in upstate New York. It’s a 7 hour train ride, but a direct flight? Nope, gotta connect through Philly or something ridiculous. It’s a total pain!

For short trips, driving’s ok, but parking can be a nightmare. and traffic in the city sucks. Trains are perfect; I can even take my bike and use it when I get there! Trains are always my first choice.

Here’s the breakdown:

• Comfort: Trains win hands down. More space, quieter, and generally a nicer atmosphere.
• Scenery: Train travel offers amazing views. You’re not stuck staring at a tiny airplane window.
• Convenience (for me): For many of my trips, trains are actually faster and more direct than planes. And, there’s less hassle with luggage.
• Cost: Sometimes trains are cheaper than flying, especially if you book in advance. I got a great deal last month on Amtrak.

Things I hate about planes:

• Security checkpoints.
• Tiny seats.
• Expensive food.
• Hidden fees.
• Stress.
• Delays.
• Connecting flights.

I’m telling you, give trains a try; you might be surprised. Seriously. Last time I flew, I nearly lost my mind. My bag got lost, AND they delayed the flight for like three hours! Three hours! Trains are way more reliable, atleast for me. You should really try the Acela express train, if you’re ever on the east coast. It’s super fast.

Why is it better to travel by train?

Less cars. Duh. Faster sometimes. My commute used to be an hour, now it’s 40 mins by train. Saved me 20 mins. Reading on the train. Should read War and Peace. Thick book. Is it worth it? Train so much safer. Saw a wreck once. Awful. Never again. Prefer train. Definitely safer. Remember almost missing the train once. Sprinting. Made it. Barely. Sweaty mess. Now I get there early. Just in case. Traffic is insane. Why do people drive? Seriously. Ugh. Trains are great. Quiet car. Need the quiet car. People are loud. Too loud. Phone calls. Annoying. Gotta charge my phone. Battery low. Phone’s dying.

• Safety: Way less accidents on trains.
• Speed: Often beats driving, especially in rush hour. Like, way beats it.
• Productivity: Can read, work, whatever. I even nap.
• Stress: Less stressful than driving. No road rage.
• Environment: Better for the planet. Less pollution. Gotta save the planet.

My train is the 8:15 express. From Grand Central. Gets me to work by 9. Perfect. Sometimes delayed though. Signal problems. That’s annoying. Still better than driving. Parking is a nightmare. Costs a fortune too. Train pass is expensive, but worth it. Saves time. Time is money. Right? Or is it health? Health is wealth. Both I guess.

Ugh, train vs. plane…eco-wise. Train better? Yeah, trains win. By a lot, I think.

Like, way less CO2. My grandma always took the train to Denver. Smart lady.

Planes are awful, though, right? Up to 96.5% less? Wowza. Is that even real?

Denver… she always brought back these weird rocks. Wonder what happened to them. Anyway, trains are eco-friendlier. Period. But flying is fast. Sigh.

What is the cheapest transport from Boston to New York?

Okay, so, like, the cheapest way? Yeah, buses, definitely buses.

I mean, flights are, like, way more, and who wants to deal with airports, ugh? So buses are it.

It’s probably the bus. It cost like $27 bucks. Not bad!

I remember buses being totally cramped tho. I took one once to see my aunt Carol in Jersey back in 2023 and, man, never again.

• Bus: Cheapest, roughly $27.
• Flights: EXPENSIVE! Figure like, $62, and plus the airport thing.
• Train: More Comfy, but more money.

Also, don’t forget about… uhm… snacks! You gotta bring your own, that’s for sure. And maybe a neck pillow thingy. Okay byeee!

There are a bunch of bus companies that go from Boston to NYC. BoltBus, or whatever it’s called now, and Peter Pan always used to be pretty cheap. Greyhound too, but sometimes the Greyhound stations are, uh, interesting places. Try the Megabus, might also be cheap, I don’t know.

Think you get what you pay for, ya know? So, if the bus is super-cheap, it’s probably not gonna be the Ritz, lol. And, be careful, like, look at the fine print, make sure there aren’t any crazy fees or anything.

Is the train from Boston to NYC scenic?

Ugh, that Boston to NYC train. Took it last October. For work. Should’ve flown. Sun glaring on my laptop screen the whole damn trip.

Remember the guy next to me? Kept talking about crypto. So annoying. New London whizzed by. Didn’t even glance up. Deadline looming. Stressed. Definitely not looking at any “scenic harbors.” Phone kept dropping signal. My bad luck.

Later, boss called. Project delayed. All that stress for nothing. Looked out window. Just gray skies. Almost to New Haven. Finally saw some water. Meh.

• Didn’t see much. Focused on work.
• October 2023. Trip for a nightmare project.
• New London. Heard it’s pretty. Didn’t see.
• New Haven. Finally some water views. Not impressed. Gray day.
• Crypto guy. Worst part of trip.

Missed the scenery. Totally. My fault. Lesson learned. Fly next time.
