• Sometimes drivers cancel, especially during rush hour. Just re-book.
• Learn a few basic Vietnamese phrases. People appreciate it! “Xin chào” (hello), “Cảm ơn” (thank you).

Still chaotic. Embrace the chaos, or find a taxi. Walking isn’t the point. The point is the experience. Sensory overload. A city breathing. Living. Thriving. Even if you’re stuck on the sidewalk. • Taxis/Ride-hailing: Abundant. Affordable. Escape the sidewalk.
• Embrace the chaos: HCMC isn’t Paris. Different charm.
• Footwear: Durable, closed-toe shoes recommended. Dust. Debris.

My hotel was near Ben Thanh Market. Constant noise. But the banh mi was exceptional. Worth the trade-off. Maybe. Perspective is everything. A city of contrasts. Beauty in the broken sidewalks. Perhaps. Or maybe I’m just tired.

I was there last March, right? Around District 1, super touristy.

It was crowded, so the guy just bumped into me, I felt a tug, and boom!

Lucky I clutched it harder, phew. Heart racing though, I tell ya.

And the traffic! Crossing streets at night is… well, it’s an experience.

Motorbikes everywhere, zooming, don’t even get me started.

Just gotta walk with confidence, kinda force your way, I think.

Yeah, it’s safe-ish, but definitely watch your stuff. No being clueless!

• Stick to main streets. Seriously.
• Maybe avoid walking alone late, late.
• Taxis/ride-shares are cheap. Use ’em!

• I love trying street food when I travel, but food poisoning could definitely be a downer.
• Crossing the streets? I just follow locals. Survival of the fittest!

Like, District 1 felt safer than other areas, based on my short trip. But I’m just one person. It’s a major city though, so yeah…common sense, please.
