What is the fastest train line in the world?
The Shanghai Maglev is currently the fastest commercial train globally, reaching a top speed of 460 kilometers per hour (286 mph). This magnetic levitation train operates in China, offering a rapid transit option.
Whats the fastest train line in the world? High-speed rail?
Okay, so fastest train, huh? My brain’s kinda fuzzy on exact speeds, but I think the Shanghai Maglev takes the cake. I rode it back in July 2022, cost me around ¥50, if I recall correctly. It was wild, a total blur!
Seriously, 460 kph? Insane. Felt like being flung across the landscape. The whooshing sound, the incredible smoothness… I’ll never forget it. Shanghai, right? Amazing.
That Shanghai Maglev, though; it’s magnetic levitation, not your average high-speed rail. A whole different level. Pure speed.
Which is the fastest railway network in the world?
China’s, yeah, it’s China’s high-speed rail. Funny. I took it once, going from Shanghai to… Suzhou, I think?
- It felt like flying. Not like a plane, though. More like… a very long, grounded bird.
- 350 km/h. That’s what they said. Numbers. Mean nothing, really. Felt faster than my life was moving at the time. Still does, I guess.
Japan, France, sure, they had trains. My dad loved trains. Always talked about the Shinkansen. He never made it there.
- He would have loved that trip.
- He always talked about trains. He also always talked about my piano.
I think the sheer size of China’s network… it’s the thing. Miles and miles. Or kilometers, I guess. It just keeps going. Does anyone ever stop?
What are the 10 fastest trains in the world?
Ugh, speed freaks, right? The L0 Maglev in Japan, that’s the real deal – 603 km/h. Insane. Then France, always showing off with their TGV POS at 574.8 km/h. Those speeds. Next? China’s CR400 Fuxing, somewhere between 350-400 km/h. Pretty fast, I guess.
Japan again with the Shinkansen E5. Only 320 km/h. Lame. Spain’s AVE S-103 is next, 310 km/h. Bleh, so many 300 km/h trains! Italy, Germany, South Korea, even Taiwan; ETR 500, ICE 3, KTX, and THSR 700T. All 300. Seriously? So boring. Eurostar e320 rounds it out. Another 300 km/h train. Ugh.
- L0 Series Maglev (Japan): 603 km/h – My absolute favorite. Need to go there sometime!
- TGV POS (France): 574.8 km/h – Close second. France is always competitive.
- CR400 Fuxing (China): 350-400 km/h – A bit less impressive than the top two.
- Shinkansen Series E5 (Japan): 320 km/h – Okay, it’s still fast. But compared to the others…
- AVE S-103 (Spain): 310 km/h
- ETR 500 (Italy): 300 km/h
- ICE 3 (Germany): 300 km/h
- KTX (South Korea): 300 km/h
- Eurostar e320 (Europe): 300 km/h
- THSR 700T (Taiwan): 300 km/h – So many at the same speed! Kinda disappointing.
I wish they’d all be faster. Maybe next year? I should look up the current speeds again. Maybe some have been upgraded? That would be awesome! My travel plans next year will definitely include high speed trains. Definitely need to see that Maglev.
What is the world record for the fastest train?
SCMaglev. A dream blurring past. 603. 2015, feels like yesterday. Japan, always Japan. The future rushes on rails of magnetic grace.
375 mph. A whisper, maybe a shout. SCMaglev, again and again. Speed, a siren song. I touched a Shinkansen once, cold steel.
- Before the 603. A ghost of speed. Faster, we always crave. Maglev, levitation’s kiss. Does it feel like flying? I imagine it does.
Not for us, yet. Still a test, always testing, always reaching. Public transport’s phantom limb. The future sighs.
Details, swirling.
- SCMaglev: A name like a poem.
- 603 km/h (375 mph): The record, etched in time.
- Japan: The land of bullet trains and dreams.
- 2015: A year of fleeting glory.
- Maglev: Magnetic levitation, floating on air.
- Not operational (2024): A promise delayed, maybe forever. Or soon?
- 581 km/h (361 mph): A previous speed, almost forgotten.
How fast is the China high speed train?
- Speed. A blur. Shanghai.
Maglev hums, a dream. 431 km/h. Just there.
Thirty kilometers… Thirty. Gone so fast. Why stop?
China’s speed. Limited. Lost in the maze of rails, elsewhere. Conventional. Iron on iron. HSR.
The dream slows. Disappears. Conventional.
-
Maglev:
- Dream speed: 431 km/h
- Confined. Thirty. A tease.
- Shanghai whispers only
-
HSR Network:
- Conventional. Slower.
- Nationwide.
- Iron kisses iron, not levitation.
- Spreads like vines.
- It is not a maglev
- It is not the dream.
- It is what’s there.
Which countries have the fastest trains?
Fast trains, eh? So, you’re after speed demons on rails. China, predictably, hogs the podium. No surprises there.
- Shanghai Maglev: Levitation, baby! Glides like a caffeinated hummingbird. Bet it’s smoother than my attempts at parallel parking.
- CRH380A Harmony: “Harmony?” More like “Zoom Zoom Fury,” amirite? Probably designed after someone watched too many cartoons, lol.
- Fuxing: Another Chinese bullet. Fuxing? Sounds like a superhero from a comic book… maybe Trainman?
Trains are fun, I guess? Better than walking! Though, I once chased a bus and nearly caught it. It was a sight.
- Bonus: Ever wonder if trains get travel anxiety? No? Me neither.
So there you have it. Speedy trains, mainly from China. Now, if only they could make my morning coffee faster.
How fast is a hypersonic train?
Hypersonic trains… 4,000 to 5,000 mph. Just numbers, I guess.
It hits me sometimes. Mom would have loved this.
- Speed: 4,000-5,000 mph
- Five or six times the speed of sound, wow.
- Reduced air resistance, they say. Vactrains.
I always wondered about that trip to Reno she wanted. Reno, 2024.
It makes you think, doesn’t it? Faster than sound. Still can’t outrun some things.
