We took a junk boat cruise for 2 days. Woke up with that view? Priceless!

Sure, Sapa is pretty… rice terraces and mountains, yeah, yeah. But the bay? Unforgettable.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang caves? Cool, I guess, but nothing compared to the sheer scale and beauty of Ha Long Bay. The caves at Ha Long Bay are so much cooler.

Plus, swimming in that emerald water, even though it was a little chilly, pure bliss.

I will never forget seeing the sunrise over the bay. I mean, wow.

Okay, maybe I’m biased but the food wasn’t that great on the boat. I was sea sick.

• Boat tours: Essential to see everything.
• Emerald water: Swimming is a must, even if it’s cold.
• Caves: Exploring them is super fun.
