Okay, so like, where can you use your Mastercard? Everywhere, duh! But okay, okay, I see what you mean. Featured retailers, got it.

• Barnes & Noble: For books, obviously. My mom LOVES that place.

• Bass Pro Shops: Fishing stuff. Never been, not my thing, and honestly, do ppl even go there anymore?

• Expedia: Traveling, booking flights and stuff. I booked my trip to Vegas there last year, but OMG, the fees!

• Exxon Mobil Rewards: Gas. Gotta get gas somewhere. Rewards points are cool, tho.

• Saks Fifth Avenue: Fancy stuff. I can’t afford anything there, lol. Window shopping only for me!

• Shop.com: General online shopping. Like Amazon, but… less good?

• Stand Up to Cancer: Giving to charity. Which is awesome, you know?

• Staples: Office supplies, school stuff. I gotta go there soon, for work stuff.

Honestly, Mastercards are accepted just about anywhere these days. I mean, even the farmer’s market down the street from my house takes it, it’s wild. You’d be hard-pressed to find a place that doesn’t accept it. You can pay at like almost anywhere. So, yeah.

What places do not accept Mastercard?

Ah, the elusive anti-Mastercard havens! Finding these places is like hunting for a vegan butcher shop—they exist, just rare.

• Mom-and-pop shops: Some stubbornly stick to cash, bless their Luddite hearts. It’s their right, I guess?
• International oddities: Remote villages sometimes look at plastic like it’s alien tech.
• Visa loyalists: Stores with exclusive deals probably give the ol’ side-eye to Mastercard. Like choosing a spouse, loyalty is a thing.

So, yeah, check beforehand, always! Why risk the “oh-dear-I’m-stranded” face? Maybe these places hate rewards points. Jealous much?

Is Mastercard accepted in Thailand?

Yep, Mastercard worked perfectly in Thailand last December. I was in Bangkok, near the Chatuchak Weekend Market – absolute mayhem, by the way. Needed cash for some street food, obviously. Found an ATM easily, no problem. Withdrew baht using my Mastercard, no issues whatsoever. It was a relief, honestly. I was so worried about getting ripped off using less-known cards.

My main concern before the trip was actually not having enough cash. I hate running out of money. I mean seriously, it’s the worst. So, I planned ahead and thankfully, my Mastercard was always there when I needed it. Even smaller shops took it. I was pleasantly surprised.

Things I found useful:

• Plenty of ATMs. Seriously, they’re everywhere.
• Mastercard acceptance is high. I used it constantly. No regrets.
• Still, cash is king. For smaller street vendors, definitely bring cash. I learned that the hard way – had to go find an ATM because one guy didn’t accept card.
• Exchange rates. Check your bank’s fees! Mine were surprisingly reasonable.

I was so happy Mastercard worked. It was a smooth trip payment-wise. No stress, just good times. It made the whole experience a lot less stressful.
