Evening Walks: Health Benefits?

Okay, so, evening walks…right? Here’s my two cents.

Honestly, after a crazy day, a walk just chills me out. I feel the stress melt away. Remember that time I was freaking about that presentation, I swear a walk saved me. Improved my mental health? Definiteley.

Plus, walking after dinner? Seriously helps my tummy settle. That weird burning feeling vanishes after a short stroll.

Morning or evening…hmm. I’m more of a night person, myself. But each to their own, innit? I went walking one time in the morning around hyde park on the 22/05. It was free.

Is walking in the evening good for weight loss?

Walking in the evening… hmmm, is it actually good for weight loss? I always feel so lazy after work, though.

  • Stress relief, yeah, that’s a thing. I def need that after dealing with Carol from Accounting all day. Ugh. Carol.

  • Evening exercise? Well, my sister swears she burns more calories then. Maybe she is just more awake then.

Is it my thing? I like being a couch potato, tbh.

  • Digestion, okay, that makes sense. I guess my stomach doesn’t like it when I eat right before bed. Then I’m all bloated.

  • No late-night snacks? Hmm, that could work. I demolished a whole bag of chips last night, dang. This week I need to change this habit, I guess.

Walking past Mrs. Gable’s garden is always nice. I could walk by the park. Maybe? A park walk after dinner?

  • It’s cooler in the evenings too now, since it’s August. Yeah, cooler weather might motivate me now!

So, maybe walking in the evening isn’t so bad after all. I’ll give it a try starting August 23, 2024.

What is the best time to walk in the evening?

The “best” time? It kinda depends. My own “best” time is usually dictated by daylight saving. I prefer sunset strolls!

  • Circadian Rhythm: We each have one. And it impacts preferred timing. So listen to your body clock!

  • Evening Exercise: One study pointed to 6 PM – midnight having benefits. Makes sense. Less sun exposure then.

  • My daily walk? Post-6 PM. Aiming for that sweet sunset glow near my block.

  • Consistency: More important than the precise hour, honestly.

  • Health Perks: Blood sugar control, maybe better sleep—who knows? The effect may be small.

Sometimes I consider what my grandpa, a retired farmer, would say: “Get it done when you can!” Plus, I had that knee thing last year. Reminds you to move while you still can, huh.
